FAQ

Questions families ask.

If you don’t see your question here, share your interest and ask — we read every response, and the questions families send us shape what we plan and what we add to this page.

Is this a private school or a homeschool program?

Journey Christian Academy is a college preparatory homeschool cooperative learning program for grades 4–12, not a state-recognized school. We partner with parents by providing structured, comprehensive instruction in core and extracurricular subjects as well as discipleship opportunities. Parents retain responsibility for adhering to all state requirements for homeschooling as well as complete education oversight, all final grades, and transcripts.

Will the Academy have in-person instruction or will it be virtual?

The Academy meets on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with students completing guided coursework at home on non-campus days with parental guidance and oversight. We offer a full curriculum across core subjects (Math, English, Science, and History), Foreign Languages, Biblical Studies, and electives. Enrollment includes a minimum of three academic classes as well as attendance and active participation in our core Disciple-Making program.

Who teaches the classes?

All classes are taught by instructors with specialized knowledge in their respective subject areas. Every instructor is supervised and evaluated by the Director to ensure academic excellence and theological alignment.

What role do parents play?

Parents are active partners and may serve in defined volunteer roles that support the Academy. Parents also retain final responsibility for their child’s education, including maintaining and managing academic records, homeschooling form submission and state compliance, end of year testing, and transcripts.

What if I am new to homeschooling?

Journey Christian Academy is designed to be a supportive community for both veteran and new homeschooling families. While parents maintain legal responsibility for their child’s education, the Academy provides the framework to make this manageable. We offer professional instruction, clear assignment schedules, and a community of experienced families to help guide you through state requirements and best practices. We are committed to walking alongside you and equipping you with the resources, structure, and fellowship necessary for your family to thrive on the homeschooling journey.

How are curriculum and theology handled?

All curriculum used at Journey Christian Academy is approved by leadership and aligns with Journey’s theological framework and disciple-making mission. Academic excellence and biblical faithfulness are both essential.

Will grades be recorded or reported to the state?

Instructors will grade assignments and assessments and communicate results to parents. As a cooperative learning environment, Journey Christian Academy does not issue official transcripts or report grades to government agencies.

When will Journey Christian Academy launch?

Our target launch date is August 2027.
