Privacy

Privacy policy.

This policy explains what Journey Christian Academy collects when you fill out a form on this site, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to ask us to delete it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

Who we are

Journey Christian Academy LLC is a Christian homeschool cooperative learning program in Midlothian, Virginia. This policy covers the website at journeychristianacademy.com and the interest and volunteer forms on it.

What we collect

We only collect information you type into a form and send to us. We do not collect anything about you simply for reading the site.

Depending on which form you complete, we may ask for:

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and how you prefer to be contacted.
  • Family information (Interest form) — how many children you are considering enrolling and what grade levels they will be in.
  • Background and availability (Instructor, Disciple Maker, and Volunteer forms) — your teaching or small-group experience, the subjects or age groups you are drawn to, and when you are available.
  • Church involvement (Instructor and Disciple Maker forms) — which church you currently attend.
  • A self-description of your faith (Disciple Maker form) — where you would place yourself in your walk with God, and what draws you to mentoring students.
  • Anything you choose to write in a free-text box, including questions for our team.
  • Whether you want our email updates, which is always optional and always your choice.

Information that deserves extra care

Three of the things above are more personal than an ordinary contact form, and we want to name them plainly rather than bury them in a list: the grade levels of your children, which church you attend, and how you would describe your own spiritual maturity.

We ask for these because they are genuinely useful — grade levels tell us how to plan classes, and the questions on the Disciple Maker form help us match mentors to students and know what training to provide. None of them is required in order to contact us. If you would rather not answer, email us instead and we will still be glad to talk.

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to plan the program, and — only if you ask us to — to send you updates as the Academy takes shape. We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not share it with other organizations for their own purposes.

Analytics, cookies, and tracking

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site — for example, which pages families read and which search terms bring them here. This helps us decide what to write and where to focus. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and sends usage information to Google, who processes it on our behalf.

We have turned off Google’s cross-device and advertising-personalization features, and we do not use this site for advertising. Beyond analytics, we have no advertising or tracking pixels. Our fonts are served from our own server rather than a font network. We do not sell your information or build advertising profiles.

If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and most browsers offer settings that block analytics cookies.

There is one exception, and we would rather name it than leave it out. Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells a real person apart from an automated script. It loads on pages that carry a form, and it reports your IP address and some basic information about your browser to Cloudflare so it can make that judgment. It is there to keep spam and abuse out of the mailboxes of the people who read these messages. It does not track you across other websites and it is not used for advertising.

The website software may set a small number of functional cookies if you sign in to administer the site. Ordinary visitors reading these pages are not tracked. Our web server keeps routine access logs, which is standard for any website and is used for security and troubleshooting.

Where it goes and who can see it

When you submit a form, two things happen: the submission is saved in this website’s database, and a notification is emailed to the appropriate member of our team.

Access is limited to Academy leadership and the person who maintains this website. Submissions are delivered to the Academy’s main mailbox, which our Director monitors.

A small number of service providers necessarily handle this information as part of delivering it:

  • Our web hosting provider, which runs the server where the website and its database live.
  • Google Workspace, which delivers and stores the notification emails sent to our staff addresses.
  • Our backup provider, which holds encrypted-in-transit offsite copies of the server so the site can be restored if something fails.
  • Cloudflare, which provides the Turnstile anti-spam check described above and sees your IP address and basic browser information when you use a form.
  • Google (Analytics), which receives information about your visit — such as the pages you view and how you arrived — and processes it on our behalf so we can understand how the site is used.

These providers process the information on our behalf in order to run the service. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions while they are still useful for planning the Academy and for responding to you, and we remove them when they are not. Backup copies persist for a limited period after deletion as part of our ordinary backup rotation, after which they expire automatically.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will remove it from our live records promptly and it will fall out of the backups as those rotate.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or stop sending you email. Email info@journeychristianacademy.com and say what you would like. You do not need to give a reason, and asking will not affect how we treat you or your family.

Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing stops the updates; it does not by itself delete an inquiry you sent us, so tell us if you want both.

Children

Our forms are meant to be completed by adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and none of our forms asks for a child’s name, birth date, or contact details — only how many children a family is considering enrolling and what grade levels they will be in. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
